Common questions
Misted double glazing, answered
What causes misted or foggy double glazing?
Misting happens when the seal around a double glazed unit fails and moisture gets trapped between the two panes of glass. Once condensation is sitting inside the unit it cannot be cleaned out, because the water is on the inside faces of the glass. The unit itself has to be replaced.
Can you replace just the glass, or do I need whole new windows?
In most cases only the glass needs replacing. If the frame, hinges and handles are still sound, we take out the failed sealed unit and fit a new one into your existing frame. That is what we mean by our slogan, keep your cash, change your glass.
What types of window can you fit units into?
We fit double glazed units into uPVC, aluminium and hardwood frames, and we supply leaded, Georgian and stained units as well as plain glass.
Do you take a deposit?
No. We never take a deposit, and credit cards are welcome.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes. We use Kite marked sealed units and, unlike most glazing firms, we offer a 10 year guarantee on all of our glass replacement work.
What is A-rated energy saving glass?
It is a sealed unit built with Planitherm low emission glass, filled with argon gas and fitted with a thermal spacer bar. Around 26% of all domestic heat loss in UK homes escapes through the windows, so switching to A-rated units cuts heat loss and condensation. Our A-rated units are 5 times more energy efficient than standard windows and 2 times more efficient than ordinary double glazing.

How much does it cost and how long does it take?
Prices depend on the size, type and number of units. Call 01302 881 672 for a free quotation and survey and we will give you a price before any work is booked.
